Most Expensive Car Ever Sold in American Auction |
Most recently, Gooding & Co. reported the final results for the annual Pebble Beach auction. California Sales, who followed the storied Concourse d'Elegance, is one of the elite car auctions in the world, even becoming an important barometer for the collectible car market.
Auction this year, which ends Sunday, has raised $ 64.2 million, surpassing the record of last year's $ 60 million. Auction has managed to sell twenty cars with a value of more than $ 1 million more than tripled compared to 2006. Even five cars can be sold more than $ 2 million. Bugatti collection sold by Peter Williamson, consisting of 12 cars for sale worth more than $ 15,500,000.
Indeed, it's not good news. One in five cars failed to sell. However, the number of price records shattered this weekend suggests that the rare car still occupies a strong position in the American automotive market.
Here are some of the blockbuster:
- 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB “California” Spider–$3.63 million
- 1938 Alfa Romeo 6C 2300B Mille Miglia “Sleeping Beauty”–$2.585 million
- 1950 Ferrari 166 MM Berlinetta Le Mans–$2.2 million.
- Three cars from Oprah Winfrey’s collection, including a 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, sold for $716,000.
